How to become a pharmacy technician in Oklahoma

Oklahoma does not require certification or an outside program. Your employer handles the required training and Board exam. Foothills does not replace that, but it does not stand in your way.

The 5 steps in Oklahoma

  1. Take the Foothills course. Online, self-paced, about 4 months.
  2. Pass the PTCE. Not required, but helpful for jobs.
  3. Get hired at an Oklahoma pharmacy. You need the job to apply.
  4. Complete employer training and the Board exam. Your pharmacist gives the Board's technician exam.
  5. Get your permit. $40, renewed every year in your birth month. Each extra location is $10.

Costs beyond Foothills in Oklahoma

  • $40 permit
