How to become a pharmacy technician in Nevada
Foothills alone is not enough in Nevada. Nevada only approves ASHP-accredited programs and does not accept PTCB certification for registration. A Foothills grad would still need about 1,500 supervised hours as a technician-in-training, so please talk to the Board before you pay for anything.
The 4 steps in Nevada
- Register as a technician-in-training. Age 18 or older with a diploma or equivalent.
- Log 1,500 hours in a Nevada pharmacy. Your managing pharmacist certifies them. That is roughly 9 to 12 months full time. An ASHP-accredited program is the other route.
- Register as a technician. The fee was about $50 on the 2022 form.
- Keep up with in-service. 12 hours every 2 years, including 1 hour of Board jurisprudence. PTCB CE can count.
Costs beyond Foothills in Nevada
- Registration, about $50 (confirm with the Board)
