How to become a pharmacy technician in Mississippi
Mississippi requires registration and a background check, with no training program. The Board page says it no longer requires PTCB certification, though employers may. Older rule text still mentions it, so passing the PTCE covers you either way.
The 5 steps in Mississippi
- Take the Foothills course. Online, self-paced, about 4 months.
- Pass the PTCE. Not required by the Board page, but it covers the older rule and helps with employers.
- Register online. Use the Licensure Gateway. Age 18 or older, with a copy of your diploma or GED and a photo.
- Pay for the background check. The Board runs it, you pay.
- Renew every year. By March 31.
Costs beyond Foothills in Mississippi
- State registration, up to $100 (check with the Board)
- Background check fee
- Annual renewal, up to $100
