How to become a pharmacy technician in Maine
Maine sets no education requirement before licensing. Your employer trains you after hire. The catch is timing: you must have your Maine license before you start training or working.
The 5 steps in Maine
- Take the Foothills course. Online, self-paced, about 4 months.
- Pass the PTCE. Maine's rule does not require it, but it shows employers you are ready.
- Get your Maine license first. About $41, which includes the criminal record check. You cannot start training or work until it is issued.
- Train at your pharmacy. The pharmacist-in-charge trains you under the pharmacy's program.
- Renew every year. Licenses expire December 31.
