How to become a pharmacy technician in Louisiana
Foothills alone is not enough in Louisiana. Besides the PTCE, you need a nationally accredited, Board-approved program or on-the-job training under a Louisiana pharmacist, and Foothills is not on that list. Please call the Board at 225-925-6496 before you pay for anything.
The 5 steps in Louisiana
- Register as a candidate. Get a Pharmacy Technician Candidate registration before gaining practical experience. Check with the Board for the fee.
- Complete training under a Louisiana pharmacist. A Louisiana-licensed pharmacist signs Form 035. Other routes are an accredited Board-approved program or a Jump Start path with 600 hours.
- Pass the PTCE. Louisiana requires a PTCB certificate dated 2000 or later. Foothills can help you prepare.
- Complete a background check. Louisiana State Police and FBI check.
- Apply for your certificate. $100. You must be 18 or older.
