How to become a pharmacy technician in Georgia

Georgia keeps it simple: register with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy through your employer. Certification isn't required, but it's the fastest way to stand out and get paid more.

The 4 steps in Georgia

  1. Meet the basics. You need to be at least 17 and have a high school diploma or GED (or be enrolled in high school or college). There's a background check.
  2. Get hired and register. Georgia technicians register with the Board of Pharmacy, and your application lists your employer. Registration renews every 2 years with continuing education.
  3. Get certified (optional, but it helps). Georgia does not require national certification. Passing the PTCE makes you a CPhT, which employers prefer and which is recognized nationwide.
  4. Keep learning. Renew every 2 years with 20 hours of continuing education.
