How to become a pharmacy technician in Alaska
Alaska does not require a training program or national certification for a tech license. Foothills and the PTCE go beyond what the state asks. You still apply for a $25 license and get your application notarized.
The 4 steps in Alaska
- Take the Foothills course. Online and self-paced. About 4 months for most people.
- Pass the PTCE. Alaska does not require it, but it shows employers you know the material.
- Apply for your license. Send the application to the Alaska Board of Pharmacy with the $25 fee. You must be 18, have a diploma, GED, or apprenticeship, and get the form notarized.
- Train at your pharmacy. Your employer handles on-site training.
